20 things women should do to empower their life

1. Take care of your health. Spend time and money on maintaining yourself.

2. Learn to be independent. Its perfectly okay to not earn, but its important to be independent.

3. Learn to ride that bike or drive that car. You don’t always need an escort!

4. Plan your future. Learn about investments and taxes. Its not necessary to have someone else manage your savings and earnings all your life.

5. Treat your self. Plan and save for your own gifts n desires. You don’t always need a boyfriend or husband or your dad to buy you something you love. Gift yourself!

6. Be a daughter. Take equal responsibility of your parents. Its not acceptable to expect everything from your brother every time.

7. Don’t be guilty, Let the father take care of the unwell child once in a while. Its okay. Your career is equally important and the father is equally responsible.

8. Share the responsibility. Let other family members take care of your kitchen sometimes. Its okay if the kitchen platform is exceptionally unclean or sink is full of dirty vessels. Relax n take that break!

9. Help the other woman, even if you don't like her. You never know what her battles are. Empower the needy ones, like your maids. Teach her basics of hygiene, education and finances, little guidance can go long way.

10. Create a support system. Its okay to get on well with in-laws! Not every family needs to have a family dramas.

11. Have some friends (men and women) beyond your husband’s or boyfriend’s group. Its okay! Spend some time away from family with your friends.

12. Its okay to not cry. Not all women needs to be sentimental all the time.

13. Be vigilant, be prepared to handle tough situations. When things go wrong, try to be balanced and find way out of your problems. You don’t need to play the victim.

What is Success?

How to Define Success in Life

There are some questions in life which are tricky to answer and the meaning of it keeps changing as we progress in life. I mean, Success has many meanings and every person has a different meaning of success. Sometimes the respect in the community or the top jobs in the big organization or winning a race or losing 5kg weight in a week or simply being happy in life makes you feel successful.

So the first question arises: What is a definition of success?

The oxford dictionary describes success as: “attaining wealth, prosperity and/or fame”.
In other words, you could say, success means the achievement of desired results of planned goals. Hence, if you can achieve your set goals, you will feel successful.

However, If the above definition was true then all the wealthy and famous people would be extremely happy but we often read that it's not the case. The reason why we think in such a manner because Media and Society often let us conclude that living a successful life means to be extraordinarily wealthy and have a lot of assets. However, the true meaning of success goes far beyond the common definitions of success, such as having a lot of money, being wealthy, having a lot of tangibles and earned degrees. True success in life cannot be measured with the above-mentioned factors.

Explore, Eat, Drink and Shop : fun things to do in Glasgow, Scotland

Before I get into things to see and do in Glasgow, I should quickly compare Glasgow to Edinburgh, as they are the two major cities of Scotland. There seems to be a clear distinction between the cities, where Edinburgh is the tourist city, and Glasgow is more of the city where people work and live. This is mostly true in that the architecture and the sights in Edinburgh are more glamourous, and there seem to be more things to do as a tourist.
On the other hand, though, Glasgow is a great city to visit as a tourist as it has a very local feel to it and, even though there are a lot of museums, shops, and pubs, it feels more like a real city. There is a ton of music in Glasgow and lots of pubs, where you will likely find more locals than tourists. Both Glasgow and Edinburgh are great cities to visit and I can’t say that I preferred one over the other as they were both great.

Just to brief about the city:

Edinburgh is Scotland's compact, hilly capital. It has a medieval Old Town and elegant Georgian New Town with gardens and neoclassical buildings. Looming over the city is Edinburgh Castle, home to Scotland’s crown jewels and the Stone of Destiny, used in the coronation of Scottish rulers. Arthur’s Seat is an imposing peak in Holyrood Park with sweeping views, and Calton Hill is topped with monuments and memorials.

The Power of words That Will Reshape Your Approach To Life

We are living in an internet age or post-truth world where we are constantly overloaded with information. That's an another debate whether it's useful or useless. However, this post is about words that has power to reshape our approach to life.

I don't know if you have experienced ever but sometimes words speaks to you when you are in silence. It happens to me a lot. Words  have  power  to  desire, to inspire, to attract, to love,  to hate, and to live.

The power of words

Words have evolved through the ages in lockstep with humankind. Perhaps more than any other factor, it is the mastery of language that sets us apart from the animal world. But words are slippery things. We often hear statements such as “those are only words.” It is well-known that they can be used to inspire as well as to illuminate or deceive. In any debate, similar language is used by both sides to present completely opposite views.

Once upon a time, in a town called far far away, A seller  had  two parrots  to sell. Green  parrot  cost  more  than that  of  multi  colored  parrot who was apparently more  beautiful and attractive.

One buyer was passing through this shop when he saw these parrots and the price of both the parrots that made him wondered. So he went  inside the shop and  inquired about those  parrots. The seller confirmed the rate as written on the tag.

The buyer was surprise at the price difference, the Green parrot costs 1000 bucks while multi coloured costs only 150 bucks. So he asked curiously to the seller, "why the beautiful parrot  costs less?"

Let me demonstrate you, what you are not seeing. Then, the Seller clapped near the green parrot. The Green parrot said, "Namaste, how are  you today? wish you a very happy day."

The buyer replied, "I am very well, thank you." and got impressed.

The buyer was surprised at fluency of speaking words and said, "I understad now, why the green parrot is more expensive. The green can speak."

The seller said, "So can the multicolored parrot."

Leh Ladakh road trip - Heaven on Earth : India Travel blog

Road trip to Leh Ladakh, India.

Once I read an article of Jacob Hoerger who described what does it feel like to drive in America. He said, how these road trips, cars, friends travelling at the same destination yet, it lead us to realise our own meaning to the journey. I think, the core notion of the Adventure road trip (Experience trips) is to have a group of friends (Who you like the most), a car (Which will broke down few times no matter how much you prepare) and explore the infinity (Truly liberating experience)— is beguiling.
However, the actual act of being on a road trip is more therapeutic than the destination itself.

In the first part India blog travel series, I want to tell a story, not with the words but with pictures, after all a picture is worth 1000 words.

Quick Read and Audio book: Acres of Diamonds by Russell H. Conwell

Acres of Diamonds is often quoted today by ‘mindset’ gurus. Hundreds of thousands of people have been motivated and inspired by this great classic book. Russell’s ideas, ideals, and enthusiasms teach us that we don’t need to look elsewhere for opportunity, achievement, or fortune-the resources to achieve all good things are present in our own community. Anyone can create wealth if we try hard enough, and our own "Acre of Diamonds" is well within our grasp.

Chapter 1: WEALTH IS IN YOUR OWN BACKYARD.
There was once a wealthy man named Ali Hafed who lived not far from the River Indus. “He was contented because he was wealthy, and wealthy because he was contented." One day a priest visited Ali Hafed and told him about diamonds. Ali Hafed heard all about diamonds, how much they were worth, and went to his bed that night as a poor man. He had not lost anything, but he was poor because he was discontented, and discontented because he feared he was poor. Ali Hafed sold his farm, left his family, and traveled to Palestine and then to Europe searching for diamonds. He did not find them. His health and his wealth failed him. Dejected, he cast himself into the sea. One day, the man who had purchased Ali Hafed’s farm found a curious sparkling stone in a stream that cut through his land. It was a diamond. Digging produced more diamonds — acres of diamonds, in fact. This, according to the parable, was the discovery of the famed diamonds of Golconda.
Are you one of those people who looks for diamonds in faraway places. Is the grass really greener there? Is there an opportunity that has been in front of you all the time. Have you taken stock of your life lately? Perhaps there are diamonds sitting just outside your back door. Now I’m not suggesting you physically go and start digging up your backyard, as this is a story, so how can you find the acres of diamonds in your own backyards?
Each of us is right in the middle of our own Acres of Diamonds, if only we would realize it and develop the ground we are standing on before charging off in search of greener pastures.
Opportunity does not just come along – it is there all the time – we just have to see it.
In life, when we go searching for “something," we should know what that “something" looks, smells and tastes like so that we can recognize it when we find it.
Before we give up what we already have, make sure that what we’re getting is better than what we already have.

Chapter 2: THE BIBLE DOES NOT SAY "MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL".
Conwell rejects the common belief that in order to be pious (virtuous), one must be poor. He insists that “ninety-¬eight out of one hundred of the rich men of America are honest". To attain wealth is a noble thing because “you can do more good with it than you could without it".
A student challenges Conwell, being certain that scripture states “money is the root of all evil".
“Go out into the chapel and get the Bible," Conwell tells him. “And show me the place."
The young man returned, poked his finger into the book and read: “The love of money is the root of all evil." Not money, but the love of money is evil.
“That man who hugs the dollar until the eagle squeals (yells)," Conwell says, “has in him the root of all evil."

Chapter 3: TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN BUSINESS, GET TO KNOW CUSTOMERS
Conwell challenges business owners who insist that they cannot get rich in their town. He asks them about their neighbors. Where are they from? What do they do in their spare time? What do they want and need?
To the man who does not care about the answers to those questions, he replies: “If you had cared enough about him (neighbor) to take an interest in his affairs, to find out what he needed, you would have been rich."

Chapter 4: IT IS CRIMINAL TO NOT MAKE PROFIT ON WHAT YOU SELL.
The overly pious insist that it is sinful to profit on a transaction. Conwell replies that “you cannot trust a man with your money who cannot take care of his own." You have no right to injure your own business out of charity. To serve your community and customers, you must be a strong and stable institution. You are no good to anyone if you cannot take care of yourself.

Chapter 5: TO INHERIT A GREAT AMOUNT IS A CURSE.
To be born with plenty and therefore be without the drive to make something of oneself is a handicap. He pities the children of the wealthy. They will never know the best things in life. “One of the best things in our life is when a young man has earned his own living."
Much better than money is to leave your children with education, a noble character, a wide circle of friends and an honorable name. Continually he rebukes (scolds)  those who believe capital is required to make one rich. He responds with a story about a man who began whittling toys from firewood and, by observing what his own children wanted, built himself into a millionaire.

India's 8 Super Women Scientists at ISRO

Celebrated India's super women scientist at ISRO

India's Women Power

Just a few days back, India Launched 104 satellites in just one go using PSLV. The entire world took the notice of it and congratulated India. In 2014, India's successful Mars orbiter mission made the India proud and stamped India's space expertise on World's map. Couple of weeks back, we saw an American movie called 'Hidden Figures' where the women scientist plays an important role and I thought why don't Indian write about their women scientist. There is an old saying, Behind every successful man, there is a woman. Maybe it's time to change it.

“Behind every successful space mission in India, there are a thousand of super woman scientists.”

The entire country is proud of ISRO and especially the significant contribution by India's women scientist. India has successfully launched satellites into space, put an orbiter around the Moon and Mars. That too with a frugality even the developed nations admire.

But behind the scenes, away from the public eye and media galore, quiet, unassuming and brilliant women spearheading many important missions of the ISRO. These women have not only broken the glass ceilings but have not even thought of the sky as their limit – quite literally.

They are passionate, strong and independent women of science that look like our neighbourhood aunties, but pack a scientific punch that would impress the likes of Tony Stark and Elon Musk. Today, let’s take a look at these Indian super women scientist who has taken the world by storm and continue to do so.

Let's talk about those 8 super women,

What is Post-truth?

The Post-truth Era

Many people questioned me why I kept the name, the post-truth era blog? Is it a political blog? Are you affiliated with any party or person? Are you against Brexit or a fan of Narendra Modi or Donald Trump? My answer is simple, 'NO'. It's not a political blog, it's more about expressing our opinion to everyone, discuss things you always felt passionate about but never felt comfortable sharing as you don't want to get trolled by 'the guardian of the post truth era'. Most blogs have discussed this terminology in the reference of politics, but I want to focus more on What does Post-truth mean for us? Is this term has relevance in our life? Do we even need to know what is post-truth era? Is it important? Then, My answer is YES. It's important to know and understand about it.

OK, So without getting philosophical, I confess, I have never heard this word Post-truth even as far as a year back, but I read a news where after much debate and research, Post-truth was declared the Oxford Dictionaries Word of the Year 2016.
An adjective defined as ‘relating to or denoting circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief.’
I wondered, maybe there is something to this adjective than a simple word, it kind of defined the era, like AD, BC, Post 9/11 or Post Millennium or Post Brexit. So It got my interest and I tried to dig a little deeper and tried to understand what it really means?

Why was this word chosen?

The guardian of the post truth era - Social Media Trolls

“This person probably lives in their momma's basement, scratching their ass and lacking vitamin D." - #SocialMediaTrolls

Again like the post-truth era, trolls have been quite popular terminology on social media. I am going to namesake them as 'the guardian of the post-truth era'. With the rise of social media which keeps occupying our mind, opening up to abuse, spreading lies and sometimes keep invading to our private space.  Such users are termed as trolls.

What does troll mean?

As per Cambridge dictionary, a noun defined as someone who leaves an intentionally annoying or abusing message on the internet, in order to get attention or cause trouble.

We all know what kind of harassment happened during presidential elections or Brexit. I refer to them as a "guardians of The post-truth era".

Dog's life, the facts of our life, Do we agree? or just a perception

Once upon a time, in the city of far far away, there was a Mr. Smith who hired the Mastiff dog as a personal assistant. The dog was no ordinary, he was extra ordinary, he used to help Mr. Smith with all his household work. If Mr, Smith asked him to bring something from the market, he would go and do it quicker than anyone. He often used to him to the town to bring home items.

There was a butcher in the town, Mr. Churchil. He was working in his shop and got  really surprised when he saw a mastiff dog coming inside the shop. At first he got scared as it was dangerous looking pet dog so He shoos him away from behind the counter. But the dog kept coming back again and again. Then, finally he went to the door to shut it down so he can't come back again but he noticed something, the dog has a note in his mouth.
He saw the note and it read "Can I have 12 sausages and a leg of lamb, please. The dog has money in his mouth, as well". The butcher looked inside and, behold, a ten dollar note. So he took the money and put the sausages and lamb in a bag, placing it in the dog's mouth.

The butcher was so impressed, and since it's about closing time, he decided to shut up the shop and follow the dog. So off he goes. The dog is walking down the street when he comes to a level crossing. The dog puts down the bag, jumps up and presses the button. Then he waits patiently, bag in mouth, for the lights to turn. They do, and he walks across the road, with the butcher following him all the way.
The dog then comes to a bus stop, and starts looking at the timetable. The butcher is in awe at this stage. The dog checks out the times, and then sits on one of the seats provided. Along comes a bus. The dog walks around to the front, looks at the number, and goes back to his seat. Another bus comes. Again the dog goes and looks at the number, notices it's the right bus, and climbs on.

The butcher, by now, open-mouthed, follows him onto the bus. The bus travels through the town and out into the suburbs, the dog looking and enjoying the outside scenery. Eventually he gets up, and moves to the front of the bus. He stands on 2 back paws and pushes the button to stop the bus. Then he gets off, his groceries still in his mouth. Well, dog and butcher are walking along the road, and then the dog turns into a house.

He walks up the path, and drops the groceries on the step. Then he walks back down the path, takes a big run, and throws himself against the door. He goes back down the path, runs up to the door and again, it throws himself against it. There's no answer at the house, so the dog goes back down the path, jumps up on a narrow wall, and walks along the perimeter of the garden. He gets to the window, and beats his head against it several times, walks back, jumps off, and waits at the door.

The butcher watches as a big guy opens the door, and starts abusing the dog, kicking him and punching him, and swearing at him. The butcher runs up, and stops the guy. "What in heaven's name are you doing? The dog is a genius. He could be on TV, for the life of me!" to which the guy responds, "You call this clever? This is the second time this week that this stupid dog's forgotten his key."

What is love? Sweet Salty Coffee - Happy Valentines Day

Once upon a time, there was a group of friends Neal, Hannah, Victor and Jennifer who crashed at the beach side party. Everyone were enjoying there time near the camp fire, dancing, singing and drinking beers. Life was full of surprises and fun.

While people were enjoying their times, Neal saw a very beautiful angle, he couldn't move his eyes once he spotted her, She was the prettiest girl in that party. She was so outstanding, many guys were staring at her only. On the other side, Neal was so normal, average body , uncombed hair, geeky attire, in a way invisible to almost everyone, nobody paid any attention to him. However, At the end of the party, with lots of courage and many beers he politely invited her to have coffee with him tomorrow. At first, she was surprised and wanted to ignore him, but due to being polite and the innocence, she couldn't refuse and agreed to come on a coffee date.

Next day, Neal was nervous and excited and couldn't believe that she has agreed to have a coffee with him. But as per the agreed time, she arrived and they both met at the cafe. Neal arrived at the place half and hour early and went to receive her. However, the funny thing was, Neal didn't know her name. So he was embarrassed to ask her name but didn't know how to address her during the conversations.

They both sat in a coffee shop, Neal was too nervous to say anything that made her felt quite uncomfortable. She thought, why did she agree to come on a date? this is turning out to be complete disaster, please, let's go home. Neal also felt, as It was visible from her face that she was not enjoying this bored date.

Out of nervousness, Neal suddenly asked the waiter loudly, "Would you please give me some salt? I'd like to put it in my coffee."

It was a very strange thing to ask so everybody in the cafe stared at him, so strange! His face turned red, but, still, he put the salt in his coffee and drank it.

She laughed and asked him curiously, "Is this a joke?"

"No", Neal replied.

"Then, why you have this hobby?", the girl asked.

Neal replied: "When I was a little boy, I was living near the sea, I liked playing in the sea, I could feel the taste of the sea, just like the taste of the salty coffee. Now every time I have the salty coffee, I always think of my childhood, think of my hometown, I miss my hometown so much, I miss my parents who are still living there".

Even while saying this tears filled his eyes. This made her emotional too. She was deeply touched by the honesty and loving nature of him.
She thought, that's his true feeling, from the bottom of his heart. A man who can tell out his homesickness, he must be a man who loves home, cares about home, has responsibility of home.

This conversation broke the ice between them and made that girl comfortable and then, she also started to speak about her childhood, spoke about her faraway hometown, her family etc. Finally, the date ended in a very happy note, he also knew her name, Pia.

IT was the beautiful beginning of their story. They continued to date. She found that actually Neal was the man who meets all her demands; he had tolerance, was kind hearted, warm, careful. He was such a good person but she almost missed him if it wasn't for that salty coffee.

Hence, Thanks to his salty coffee, their story began and just like every beautiful love story, the princess married to the prince, then they were living the happy life. And then, every time she made coffee for him, she put some salt in the coffee, as she knew that's the way he liked it.

Time went on, year on years passed away and at the age of 72 years Neal passed away peacefully, in natural death. He had a very fulfilling and blissful life with Pia. After 42 years of marriage, he left her a letter which said: "My dearest, please forgive me, forgive my whole life's lie. This was the only lie I said to you---the salty coffee. Remember the first time we dated? I was so nervous at that time, actually I wanted some sugar, but I said salt It was hard for me to change so I just went ahead.

I never thought that could be the start of our communication! I tried to tell you the truth many times in my life, but I was too afraid to do that, as I have promised not to lie to you for anything.

Now I'm dying, I afraid of nothing so I tell you the truth: I don't like the salty coffee, what a strange bad taste.. But I have had the salty coffee for my whole life! Since I knew you, I never feel sorry for anything I do for you. Having you with me is my biggest happiness for my whole life. If I can live for the second time, still want to know you and have you for my whole life, even though I have to drink the salty coffee again.

She couldn't stop crying, knowing how much he loved her. Her tears made the letter totally wet.

Someday, someone asked her, "what's the taste of salty coffee?"
"It is sweet.", She replied.
